The foremost asset The Valley Ski Hill provides is the ability to not only introduce but highly develop skiing for kids. Since 1985 The Valley has provided the Nancy Greene program for Valley kids and the program has grown to be one of the largest participating clubs in Canada! Today kids can proceed beyond Nancy Greene to Kinder 1 and 2 Clubs or, starting next year, take on freestyle ski disciplines, like moguls and sliders in the RBC Jumps and Bumps program. Safety and Fun are the foundations taught at the Valley Ski Hill that kids can take with them to other ski areas. If you have kids we strongly recommend looking into placing them in one of our programs to both learn to ski and have fun and experiences they will remember for a lifetime!
Valley Nancy Greene Club
The Nancy Greene/Husky Snowstars Program is an entry level racing program geared to skiers from 5-11 years old. It was founded in 1968 after Nancy Greene's World Cup victory. "Ski Racing for the fun of it" was the main aim of the program then and that principle lives on today!
The Valley Nancy Greene Club is also home to many 11 & up racers as well. These racers compete at our local club level and also have the opportunity to race in the Regional Kinder Series and every two years at the Alberta Winter Games.
Hardisty Ski Club
The Hardisty Ski Club offers ski instuction at the Valley Ski Hill, and also introduces children to ski competition allowing young skiers the opportunity to test the skills they have learned in the program in a fun and friendly environment. At the heart of our program is a lesson schedule on Friday nights from 7:00 - 9:00 and Sundays from 11:30 - 2:30 at the Valley Ski Hill. The Hardisty Ski Club is proud to utilize the Husky Snow Stars as the long term development tool for entry level programs. The Husky Snow Stars program is a premiere skill development tool geared towards aspiring ski participants aged between 5 and 12 years old, along with a more competitive program for older racers. This seven-step program, which is promoted by Alpine Canada, the Canadian Ski Coaches' Federation and the Provincial Ski Associations, guides children, coaches, and parents through a progression of ski skills. This skill development program introduces children to basic ski techniques and skills, basic safety rules, and teamwork. Enjoyment of the sport and the Valley ski environment is also emphasized. The Hardisty Ski Club also offers optional field trips outside of the Hill, mountain ski trips, offsite racing, and participation in our annual ski race.
